The College Board & Texas Education Agency

Like the Texas Education Agency, the College Board is dedicated to providing students access to educational opportunities and assessments with the goal of preparing them for college. The College Board and Texas have forged a unique partnership and built a strong foundation to increase academic rigor and achievement, provide high-quality professional development and promote a college-going culture for all students. As such, the College Board is a TEA-approved provider for:

Texas College Readiness Initiative for Middle School Students

The College Board’s Middle School College Readiness System™ is a suite of programs — SpringBoard, CollegeEd® and ReadiStep™ — that provides the resources middle schools need to prepare students for rigorous high school and college-level course work. SpringBoard serves as the foundation of this system.

Texas College Preparation Program

The College Board’s College Readiness Pathway consists of a series of assessments — ReadiStep™, PSAT/NMSQT and SAT — that work together to help schools and districts identify and close achievement gaps to ensure all students graduate ready for the rigors of college. The tests are aligned to measure a vertical progression of academic standards and application of an appropriate set of knowledge and skills, and they also measure the key content areas outlined in the TEKS. SpringBoard is fully aligned to these assessments and to the TEKS, offering an effective instructional solution to raise student performance.

What Texas Educators Are Saying

“In [SpringBoard] training, I learned the strategies that not only will help the struggling students, but students in general. Because of these strategies, I will be able to teach in an effective way that will enhance the students’ knowledge with the curriculum.”
– High School English Teacher, La Villa Independent School District

“This was something totally new to us. I remember several teachers being reluctant to attend the summer training. After the training, we were so excited… the results showed.”
– English Teacher, San Benito Consolidated Independent School District

“Our state Algebra I test scores showed 42 percent of our students meeting proficiency the year before we implemented SpringBoard… After three years implementing the program, our scores went up to 56 percent.”
– Director Secondary Mathematics, Fort Worth Independent School District

“I now understand how and when to use differentiated instruction with my students and still teach with rigor and fidelity to my curriculum.”
– English Teacher, Spring Independent School District

“Everyone is so excited… teachers [are] saying thank you for providing us with the best curriculum we have ever had!
– Director of Curriculum, Royal Independent School District

“[SpringBoard’s] approach is so creative in that it gets all the students to participate… and from many backgrounds and levels of experience.”
– Middle School Language Arts Teacher, New Braunfels Independent School District

“I did not think I was able to complete the work until I was in the SpringBoard English class last year and this year. Now I know I will go into AP in high school because I have more confidence.”
